Cultural Leadership at a Glance (pdf file)

HVCA’s has three strategic priorities;  Build Networks, Coordinate Services and Promoting the Arts. Our work in these areas interrelate and directly impacts the economic, cultural, and social condition of the region.  Since July 2008, our efforts to increase capacity and leverage resources has increased HVCA’s ability as a provider of services for the arts and a growing resource in the community.  Join HVCA!

Building Networks

  • We bring people together locally and regionally to focus on the arts, history and cultural in the region
  • The leadership of HVCA includes a diverse representation from each of the 10-towns served in terms of socio/economics, expertise in the arts as well as in business.
  • We maintain healthy relationships with key stakeholders, representatives from municipal government and arts councils, as well as individual artists and community activists throughout the area.
  • We provide“Roundtables by Discipline” a platform for professionals in the industry and across sectors to convene, network, and build collaborations.

Coordinated Services

  • We partner with local, regional, and state experts to provide workshops and networking opportunities for the creative community and for those looking to be more creative.
  • We coordinate news, information, and maintains an online Regional Cultural Calendar.
  • City Hall Exhibit -a partnership between HVCA and the Danbury City Hall to help make art more accessible

Promotion

  • We raise public awareness concerning arts and culture through our e-news distributions, press releases, participation in key community events, and active outreach efforts.
  • HVCA maintains an online regional calendar of events and attractions and newsletters and news related information in the region and across the state, in terms of grants, jobs, housing, professional development, etc.
  • We conduct an annual Spring Arts Celebration, a collaboration between businesses along with visual and performing arts resources to produce a spring event for the community
  • HVCA participates in key events including the Western CT Annual Business to Business forum sponsored by the Greater Danbury Chamber of Commerce, the CT Film Festival 2008,  and the Festival of Wreaths event, sponsored by I95, in November, 2008 First Night Danbury to promote artist’s participation in activities on December 31st.
